Existing shrubs had become woody so were removed. Thirsty Violets and grass roots were also removed, restoring the soil with organic compost. Espaliered Apple trees and a Pomegranate were added for space saving edible production. Bluestone steppers were used to access areas without compacting the soil. Companion plantings, herbs and easy care herbaceous perennials were added for plant diversity and colour. All areas were heavily mulched to retain moisture and to suppress weeds.
